| National Grid is to construct a 28 mile 36 inch gas pipeline in Gloucestershire.
Main construction will begin in March on the line which will run from Wormington,
near Broadway, to Sapperton, near Cirencester.
As the pipeline runs through the Cotswolds, a designated area of outstanding
natural
beauty, special precautions will be taken to ensure the minimum damage
to the local area. The National Grid project team recently undertook a two-day dry
stone
walling course. Specialist dry stone walling contractors will be used to
dismantle and
rebuild all Cotswold dry stone walls crossed by the pipeline route.
National Grid have not yet announced the name of the main construction contractor.
The pipeline should be in operation by the end of October 2010.
